Hello and welcome to this guided meditation.

My name is Marissa, and tonight, we'll be journeying through the stages of sleep, with each stage represented by a different color to help you relax.

Along the way, you’ll also learn about and understand your body’s natural sleep process.

Let’s begin by finding a comfortable place to lie down and rest—whether that’s lying in bed or sitting on a soft surface.

Once you’ve taken a moment to get cozy, close your eyes and take a deep breath in…

And exhale out.

During this meditation, if your mind wanders, know that it’s completely OK—it’s a natural part of being human.

When you notice your focus shifting away from this meditation, simply take a moment to acknowledge what has taken you away.

Then, with kindness and gentleness, bring your attention back to the sound of my voice.

In meditation, we build the skill of refocusing our attention, returning to the things we’d like to focus on.

Let’s begin to prepare our body and mind for a good rest by entering a deeply relaxed state.
