Hello, my name is Shayna, and welcome to this meditation for women focused on incorporating gentle movement during menstruation.

Whether or not you have a fitness routine, it is important to recognize that menstruation is a time when your body requests rest.

However, rest doesn’t necessarily mean doing nothing.

If you overexert yourself during this time, it may lead to agitation or stress.

On the other hand, a complete lack of movement can create stagnation in the body, which may result in discomfort or cramping.

The key is to find a balance.

The Power of Gentle Movement
Studies show that light physical activity can help reduce menstrual discomfort by promoting circulation.

In Chinese medicine, movement is essential for maintaining the flow of qi and blood.

Qi (energy) is what moves the blood, ensuring that the body stays balanced and flowing with ease.

Today, we will explore simple, mindful movements to support your well-being during your period.

Take a few moments to settle into stillness.

Find a comfortable seat—perhaps propping yourself up on a cushion if that feels supportive for your hips and pelvis.

Since we will be incorporating light movement, I encourage you to sit upright, but if lying down feels better for you, you are welcome to modify the practice accordingly.
