Hello and welcome to this gratitude-before-bed guided meditation.

My name is Marissa, and tonight, we’ll be falling asleep with the intention of gratitude.

Gratitude has a powerful impact on our lives—from making us happier to boosting our optimism, gratitude improves our overall health, deepens our relationships, and even increases our productivity.

When paired with mindfulness and meditation practices, gratitude can be especially powerful.

By stepping into the present moment through mindfulness, we can reflect on and appreciate even the smallest things in life.

From there, we experience a deeper sense of appreciation.

Research has found that gratitude changes the neural structures in the brain, increasing our levels of well-being, contentment, and decreasing stress, anxiety, and depression.

The more we practice gratitude, the more our brain becomes wired to notice things to be thankful for.

The effect of gratitude on the brain is long-lasting and can be a wonderful habit to build.

One of the best times to practice gratitude is right before bed.

As we shift our thoughts to thankfulness, it helps reduce pre-sleep anxiety and shifts our focus away from other thoughts, such as worrying about the future or ruminating on the past.
